Too many wires can take over your home, causing it to look cluttered. There are wires for practically everything nowadays and keeping them under control is quite the task. Here are some tips to help you keep your wires out of sight and out of mind.

Install important wires underneath the carpet. If you’re installing new carpet, take the opportunity to staple the cable, internet and/or phone wires to the floor, using a staple every three to four feet. Avoid putting the wires under high-traffic areas like doorways so that wires don’t get damaged. Instead, install wiring around the edge of the room, next to the baseboards.

If you’re not installing new carpet, carefully pull up the edges of your existing carpet. Be careful not to damage the rug. Do not use this method to hide extension cords or electrical wiring. If wires become frayed underneath the carpet, they can create a fire hazard.
